Violet was born and raised in Edmonton before moving to Vancouver to pursue a career in graphic design. She graduated with honours from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in 1988 and worked as a professional graphic designer for over 30 years. Seeking a new creative outlet and a fresh direction, she discovered kiln-formed glass. In 2008, she began working with glass under the mentorship of Brock Craig at Craig Studios. Over the years, she has also honed her silversmithing skills, allowing her to merge glass and silver into distinctive jewelry pieces.

Violet has exhibited her work across Canada and the U.S. and was a finalist in E-merge 2010, an international juried kiln-formed glass competition. She received the BC Glass Arts Association Pilchuck Scholarship in 2012 and was a finalist in both the Made in Vancouver 2019—Vancouver Magazine Awards and Western Living Magazine Designers of the Year—Makers category. Her work is available in galleries and shops throughout Canada, and she creates from her home studio in Burnaby, BC.

Violet’s kiln-formed glass and sterling silver jewelry embody a clean, contemporary aesthetic. Influenced by her graphic design background, her work showcases meticulous attention to detail, rich colours, intricate patterns, and compelling textures. Her pieces—both functional and sculptural—bring elegance to the home, garden, and body.
